Lebanon ends Central's season in 2D quarterfinals

LEBANON — Kaya Bollinger recorded 37 assists and Kara Long knocked down 15 kills to power the Lebanon volleyball team to a sweep of Wise Central, 25-20, 25-18, 25-12, on Tuesday night in the Region 2D tournament quarterfinals.

Megan VanDyke finished with 15 kills and Hannah McAmis came up with 19 digs to lead the visiting Lady Warriors, who saw their season come to an end.

Lebanon (21-10), the Southwest District’s No. 1 seed, will play Virginia High, the No. 3 seed out of the district, on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the first semifinal at Union.

BRISTOL, Va. — Virginia High joined Lebanon, Union and Gate City in the Region 2D semifinals with a 25-16, 25-21, 25-22 quarterfinal victory over John Battle.

Hannah Knight had 35 assists and Camden Jones knocked down 17 kills to go with 17 digs for the Lady Bearcats (23-7).

Bethany Smith finished with 15 digs and Michaela Monk had six kills in the season-ending loss for the Lady Trojans (12-15).

REGION 1D

THOMAS WALKER 3, COUNCIL 0

HONAKER — Thomas Walker swept its way into the quarterfinal round of the Region 1D tournament, beating Council 25-15, 25-11, 26-24.

Bella Schwartz piled up 30 assists and Tanna Whitt had 13 kills for the Lady Pioneers, who advanced to play Patrick Henry on Thursday in Glade Spring in the Region 1D quarterfinals.

Thursday’s other Region 1D quarterfinals have Eastside at Grundy, Chilhowie at Rye Cove and Holston at Honaker.
