LIVE: LDS Church expected to announce new president

SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will broadcast a live message from Russell M. Nelson, president of the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, at 9 a.m. 

Nelson’s message will be followed by a press conference at 10 a.m.

The LDS Church is expected to officially announce its new president of the church, who will be the successor to former President Thomas S. Monson who died Jan. 2. In addition to the announcement of the new president, two new counselors also will be named.
